Role Overview
The Estimator role, based in Baton Rouge, LA, involves preparing cost estimates and proposals through thorough analysis of drawings, specifications, and related documents. Reporting to the Vice President of Estimating, this position requires independent development of estimating procedures within guidelines and focuses on achieving defined outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full bidding process from invitation through proposal submission, including support for clarifications post-submission.
- Coordinate the overall estimating effort for assigned bids or projects.
- Interpret project specifications and drawings; attend pre-bid meetings to establish scope and estimate requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs based on drawings or bid package data to prepare detailed estimates.
- Prepare bid packages for vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Contribute to scheduling, execution planning, and risk analysis activities.
- Maintain well-organized, documented files supporting estimates for management review.
- Engage with owners, architects/engineers, and contractors to provide cost and engineering data on project feasibility.
- Assist project teams on awarded contracts by estimating extras, change orders, or credits as directed.
- Carry out additional assignments as requested by supervision.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical training or relevant industrial construction estimating experience.
- Strong analytical thinking, organizational capability, time management, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency using Google Workspace tools.
- Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams handling multiple projects concurrently.
- Compliance with post-offer drug and alcohol screening, physical evaluations, and acceptance of company substance policies.
- Adherence to company and client safety regulations on job sites.
- Medical fitness to ensure workplace safety.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary is determined based on individual qualifications and experience. Benefits may include health, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment (ADD), voluntary life and ADD, disability benefits, leave options, 401(k), paid time off and holidays, telehealth services, and employee assistance programs. Eligibility depends on employment status.
