About the Role

As an Associate Director of Engineering, you will oversee the development, strategic planning, and operations of essential software applications, including both customer-facing platforms such as Cast.sg, Insurance Application, and Regional Rewards, as well as core backend infrastructure like the Open Platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and steer the technical roadmap and architectural framework across the entire application suite, ensuring scalability, robustness, security, and optimal performance on AWS cloud environments.
- Champion the implementation of superior engineering methodologies, encompassing continuous integration and delivery, monitoring and observability, and automation in testing.
- Provide direct leadership to multiple engineering teams and senior managers, promoting a culture that values technical excellence, accountability, and ongoing development.
- Manage the full software development lifecycle to guarantee timely, quality deliverables.
- Lead recruitment, retention, and performance evaluation initiatives for the engineering group.
- Develop and manage strategic vendor partnerships, overseeing contract negotiations, performance assessment, and risk evaluations to align with security and compliance standards.
- Optimize expenditure and maximize return on investments related to vendor services such as AWS and licensing platforms.
- Serve as the chief technical liaison for executive leadership, product management, finance, and regional business units, harmonizing priorities and communicating technical considerations into business impact clearly and effectively.
- Oversee the evolution of the Open Platform’s services and APIs to maintain high reliability and seamless integration capabilities.
- Steer the customer-facing teams responsible for front-end experiences and integrations with regional partners.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of progressive experience in software engineering, including at least five years in leadership roles.
- Proven competence in scaling engineering teams and managing complex projects.
- Demonstrated success in vendor and partner management, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Java, React, Next.js, microservices architecture, PostgreSQL, and SQL databases.
- Extensive experience in deploying and managing applications on AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3.
- Solid understanding and application of full SDLC processes including Agile and Scrum techniques.
- Excellent communication skills suitable for discussions with technical and non-technical stakeholders at senior executive levels.
