Job description
Job Overview
The Yard Spotter, Non-CDL, plays a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation within the company’s premises by moving tractor trailers safely and efficiently around loading docks, parking areas, and to offsite facilities. This position supports America’s food distribution chain by ensuring timely and secure handling of trailers, while also representing the company positively to customers, vendors, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct safety inspections and maneuver trailers in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and internal driving policies.
- Refuel, position, and park tractors and trailers at docks accurately and securely.
- Transport tractor trailers to external maintenance or inspection sites, involving local city driving.
- Properly secure all vehicles and equipment and complete necessary paperwork diligently.
- Fulfill other relevant tasks as assigned to support team effectiveness.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent educational achievement.
- At least six months of driving experience; however, internal candidates with strong performance may qualify with less under company training standards.
- Possession of a valid non-commercial driver’s license and compliance with all applicable state licensing or certification requirements.
- Ability to work assigned shifts and required overtime hours as scheduled.
- A clean Motor Vehicle Record for the past three years.
- Successful completion of post-offer drug screening and criminal background check.
