Role Purpose

The Turnaround Static Engineer for the Ammonia Plant is responsible for supporting the entire lifecycle of turnaround activities including planning, preparation, execution, and closeout. This involves coordinating among departments such as Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Engineering, Contractors, and Support functions to ensure timely completion of static equipment maintenance tasks according to quality, safety, and schedule commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to preparing turnaround cost estimates and ensure proper cost categorization between OPEX and CAPEX following company systems.
  • Monitor turnaround expenditures and assist with cost control, engaging in budget-analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate turnaround activities for static equipment with multiple stakeholders including Operations, Maintenance, and Contractors.
  • Support development of detailed work packages, safety analyses, method statements, inspection, and quality plans as part of turnaround preparation.
  • Assist with schedule management, readiness planning, and interface coordination to optimize turnaround delivery and equipment availability.
  • Provide technical engineering support related to static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, boilers, piping, tanks, reactors, furnaces, and other fixed mechanical equipment.
  • Review inspection findings and repair recommendations to ensure compliance with relevant codes and company standards.
  • Offer technical advice to enhance equipment integrity, reliability, and risk mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in turnaround management, static equipment maintenance, plant shutdowns, and startups primarily within petrochemical, fertilizer, refining, gas processing, or ammonia production sectors.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale plant turnarounds / shutdowns.
  • Familiarity with international standards including ASME, API, TEMA, and NBIC.

Technical and Professional Competencies

  • Expertise in turnaround planning, execution, and mechanical integrity management.
  • Coordination of inspection and reliability activities, risk assessment and mitigation approaches.
  • Cost control and budget monitoring skills.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Proficiency with SAP PM/MM modules and Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with computer literacy, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
