Job description
Role Overview
This position is focused on creating, standardizing, and automating Work Instructions (WI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and other manufacturing knowledge assets. It blends expertise in engineering, software development, artificial intelligence, and automation to enhance the efficiency of documentation, capture vital engineering knowledge, and enable the automatic generation of WI/SOPs derived from engineering data such as Technical Product Data (TPD), Bills of Material (BOM), routing, and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and update WI, Requests for Quotations (RFQs), SOPs, and various engineering documents by simplifying intricate technical details into precise, clear, and accessible content.
- Work closely with engineering teams to gather manufacturing insights, best practices, and operational requirements, ensuring documents are accurate, standardized, and well-controlled.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of manufacturing workflows, machine assembly tasks, engineering processes, BOM frameworks, routing, and TPD specifications to support superior documentation quality.
- Lead efforts to digitize documentation by seeking opportunities to automate and standardize document creation via AI and workflow automation.
- Create AI-supported documentation tools, templates, automation scripts, and generation workflows utilizing Python, Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable technologies.
- Integrate various engineering data sources—including BOM, TPD, process routing, and equipment info—to boost documentation consistency, efficiency, and scalability.
- Establish and maintain engineering knowledge repositories and documentation standards to facilitate knowledge transfer and business continuity.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as Process & Manufacturing Engineering, Automation & Optimization, Digital, and Operations to deliver advanced documentation and digital solutions that promote manufacturing excellence.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
- Between three and five years of experience in technical writing, engineering documentation, manufacturing digitalization, or process improvement roles.
- Good comprehension of manufacturing procedures with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and engineering specifications.
- Strong abilities in technical writing and clear communication skills.
- Familiarity with Python programming, Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot, or other AI and automation technologies is a plus.
- A keen interest in AI, digital transformation, and ongoing process enhancements.
