Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead as the chief architect and domain expert for our collection of internal tools and products. This senior individual contributor role involves overseeing architecture and technical design, ensuring robust foundations that enable the seamless integration of our tools within studio pipelines at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect tools and products spanning diverse areas such as game engines, pipelines, digital content creation software (DCC), and web-based applications.
  • Provide domain expertise on technical feasibility, risk assessment, and mitigation.
  • Work collaboratively with studio leadership to identify shared technical requirements and promote the adoption of centralized tools.
  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations and high-level estimations for new projects and initiatives.
  • Deliver technical guidance and mentorship to team leads throughout the organization.
  • Assess emerging technologies and APIs to maintain sustainability and efficiency of platforms and products.
  • Establish engineering standards for the company and ensure accountability among team leads.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering AAA game titles in leadership roles such as engineering lead or technical director.
  • Proven track record of shipping multiple games and developing centralized tools that have enhanced developer productivity and business insights.
  • Strong architectural knowledge and familiar with design patterns across various domains.
  • Ability to influence and guide technical strategy across multiple independent studios without formal authority.
  • Exceptional communication skills capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated passion for building productivity-enhancing development tools.
  • Experience leading scalable AWS-based solutions for at least two years.
  • Exposure to AI integrations and familiarity with multiple foundational AI models.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline.
