Steward

Position Overview

The Steward will be responsible for managing cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing areas, and trash compactors. Duties include washing and sanitizing kitchen and storage spaces, utensils, knives, and tools thoroughly. The role also involves receiving deliveries, proper storage and rotation of perishable items, and maintaining cleanliness of warehousing areas.

Key Duties

• Utilize detergents and sanitizing chemicals within a three-compartment sink system to clean dishes efficiently.
• Inspect and organize cleaned items, and ensure soiled items are resent for further cleaning if necessary.
• Spray and rack cleaned items with hot water to remove food residue effectively.
• Sort, soak, wash, and rewash silverware as needed.
• Breakdown and clean dirty bus tubs.
• Empty and maintain trash cans and dumpster areas; responsibly dispose glass items and break down cardboard boxes for recycling.
• Clean and mop all designated departmental areas regularly.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety and security protocols, reporting any hazards or incidents to management promptly.
• Maintain professional communication and foster positive workplace relationships aligned with team goals.

Physical Requirements

Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. The job requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods and includes reaching overhead and below the knees with actions such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.

Qualifications

• Education: No requirement for a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Work Experience: No previous experience necessary.
• Supervisory Experience: Not required.
