About the Company
Tantalus Media, part of the Keywords Studios group, operates studios across Victoria, South Australia, and Queensland, Australia. Together with Liquid Development, these studios employ approximately 200 of the country's top game development professionals. Known as one of Australia's premier co-development studios, the teams contribute to diverse projects ranging from game ports, downloadable content, expansion packs to remasters. This variety enriches employees' learning experiences and skills development.
This role is based in Melbourne and follows a hybrid working model. Please note that fully remote or sponsorship applications will not be considered.
Job Overview
We seek multiple skilled Game Programmers who are driven to help maintain the high standards of quality and service that Keywords Studios are known for internationally. Team members collaborate within a growing developer community to craft multiple game features for prestigious projects under the Keywords Studio Australia portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with producers, game designers, and artists to develop game features using C++ and/or Lua according to project schedules.
- Conduct testing, debugging, refinement, and optimization of game functions on console and PC platforms.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and software architectures relevant to game development.
- Adhere to Keywords Studios' coding standards and industry best practices.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow programmers within your domain of expertise.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong programming expertise in a statically typed language such as C++.
- Experienced with Unreal Engine or other proprietary/custom game engines.
- Outstanding problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Specialized competence in at least one gaming discipline, such as 3D mathematics, artificial intelligence, physics, or user interface development.
- Capable of writing clear, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Proven track record of meeting project deadlines reliably.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, approachable demeanor.
- Quick adaptability to new codebases and technical knowledge areas.
Education
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
