About the Role
S&P Capital IQ, part of The McGraw-Hill Companies, offers leading financial data, research, and analytics solutions to global institutional investors, banks, advisors, corporations, and universities. Their platforms help uncover insights and mitigate risks across asset classes through products like S&P Capital IQ desktops, MarketScope Advisor, and enterprise offerings including Compustat and Global Credit Portal.
Key Responsibilities
- Create automation and performance testing scripts that adhere to organizational standards, building durable and maintainable automated regression test suites and harnesses.
- Utilize appropriate tools and frameworks to develop automation scripts that produce high-quality code and streamline testing procedures.
- Conduct accessibility testing and verify application compliance with WCAG guidelines.
- Design detailed test plans and test cases derived from functional and design documents; execute tests and analyze results to report findings.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to deliver business features timely while meeting quality and acceptance criteria.
- Develop effective solutions for web applications and service-based APIs.
- Engage actively in Agile team activities including project scoping, cross-team meetings, functional and technical reviews, and test specification discussions.
- Participate extensively in functional, system, and regression testing efforts.
- Gather quality assurance metrics and data to provide actionable insights and support decision-making.
- Conduct risk assessments and estimate efforts to ensure quality delivery.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in software testing and development, exhibiting strong capabilities in debugging, coding, and testing practices, with an eagerness to engage in development tasks.
- Proficient programming skills in Java 17 or higher; familiarity with Java 21 features is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience testing RESTful and JSON-based APIs and event-driven microservices, including contract testing and root cause analysis across service and data layers.
- Experience building and designing automated testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of testing applications that use Redis or similar distributed caches/document stores, including validating data migration and caching behavior.
- Working understanding of AWS services such as SQS, S3, Secrets Manager or SSM Parameter Store, specifically testing asynchronous and message-driven workflows like event-bus patterns.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines based on GitHub Actions; familiarity with container platforms and orchestration systems like EKS deployments.
- Proficiency with Git in a branching workflow environment (develop/release/qa branches).
- Familiarity with build and code-quality tools including Maven, JaCoCo coverage, and static code analyzers such as Checkstyle, PMD, and SpotBugs; awareness of security analysis tools like Mend, Fortify, and OWASP Dependency-Check is a plus.
- Strong aptitude for problem-solving, analysis, and technical troubleshooting.
