About the Role
Join the team responsible for powering the Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablets Appstore, helping millions of customers discover, buy, and enjoy digital content. As a Software Development Manager in the Appstore Developer Experience team, you will lead the redevelopment of the Appstore's developer platform, including new APIs for third-party developers to manage their apps and games, as well as a web interface and mobile app used by thousands of developers serving millions of users.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the team enhancing developer experiences across multiple operating systems such as Fire OS and Vega OS supporting devices including TVs, Tablets, and multi-modal devices like Echo Show.
- Develop and maintain APIs enabling developers to effortlessly test and submit their applications to the store.
- Manage AI-native teams (PODs) to accelerate development and foster cultural growth.
- Ensure high technical standards in critical testing workflows requiring 99.99% reliability.
- Collaborate effectively with product, business intelligence, developer relations teams, and external third-party developers.
- Coach and nurture a team of more than 10 engineers working on large-scale distributed systems.
- Drive the technical vision for next-generation features on emerging Amazon devices.
- Address complex challenges involving scalability, security, compliance, and user experience.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of engineering experience.
- At least 3 years experience managing engineering teams.
- Over 8 years of experience leading the design and development of multi-tier web services.
- Expertise in software engineering practices across the complete lifecycle, including coding standards, code review, source control, build automation, testing, certification, and operations.
- Experience working collaboratively with product or program management.
- Skills in designing and architecting scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with users, technical teams, and senior leadership on requirements, designs, and product strategy.
- Experience in hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to enhance skills and productivity.
