Role Summary
The Software Development Engineer I position invites passionate Java developers with up to three years of experience to join the engineering team. The candidate will engage in developing scalable backend applications, designing RESTful services, and contributing to microservices architectures leveraging modern cloud technologies. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with senior engineers and evolve technical expertise in product-driven environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, implement, validate, and maintain backend software employing Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
- Develop and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices-based solutions.
- Produce clean, maintainable code adhering to established coding standards.
- Engage actively in code reviews and engineering discussions to foster quality and innovation.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects and production-level issues promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management and quality assurance to deliver robust software.
- Create and maintain unit and integration tests ensuring high code reliability.
- Optimize data queries and interactions with relational databases.
- Support continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
- Adopt engineering best practices, leveraging design patterns and secure programming conventions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in core Java versions 8, 11, or 17.
- Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming principles.
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving techniques.
- Experience with Spring Boot and creating RESTful APIs.
- Understanding of SQL and relational database systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Familiar with Git for version control.
- Basic knowledge of microservices concepts.
- Good communication skills and teamwork aptitude.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience with Spring Data JPA or Hibernate ORM.
- Exposure to Apache Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Awareness of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of unit testing frameworks like JUnit and Mockito.
- Experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Understanding caching strategies with Redis.
- Fundamentals of system design principles.
Educational Requirements
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an analogous discipline with a proven academic record in programming and computer science fundamentals.
