Overview

John Sisk & Son Ltd is an international construction and engineering family-owned company delivering impactful building and infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. As a Site Agent, you will join a seasoned team responsible for the comprehensive delivery of a site, managing all operations with adherence to safety, quality, and efficiency.
This pivotal role involves supervising activities related to reinforced concrete framing, curtain wall facade installations, and high-end internal finishes, ensuring the project progresses on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the creation of initial project schedules and monitor weekly objectives.
  • Oversee site preparation ensuring all necessary facilities and systems are established before construction begins.
  • Maintain effective coordination with subcontractors working on-site.
  • Uphold standards related to health, safety, environmental, quality, and sustainability protocols consistently.
  • Implement and monitor quality control processes.
  • Ensure the temporary works register is accurately maintained and current.
  • Identify and communicate any risks or issues that might impact delivery such as material availability, resource allocation, scheduling, safety concerns, or costs.
  • Drive the project timeline, coordinating and prioritizing site activities.
  • Supervise the site team, including foremen and staff, and lead daily progress meetings using whiteboards.
  • Ensure incident protocols are followed appropriately by all employees on site.
  • Manage all stages of project delivery from initial mobilisation through to final completion.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to communicate site needs and seek balanced, cost-effective solutions.
  • Delegate tasks effectively within the site workforce.
  • Maintain comprehensive and contemporaneous site documentation and records.
  • Ensure execution aligns with the project plan, meeting schedule and budget.
  • Manage a controlled registration system for all individuals entering and leaving the construction site.

Experience Required

  • Over 10 years of experience managing construction projects across diverse sectors.
  • Proven success in building consensus and maintaining positive working relationships among diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with industrial relations practices and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and oversee medium to large-scale projects effectively.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills to supervise subcontractors and staff.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and influential interaction with colleagues and clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction trades, relevant codes of practice, and specific site requirements.
  • Sound decision-making capabilities, with a focus on prioritizing project interests.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and set a positive example.
  • Experience managing conflicting priorities and challenging stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Trade or technical educational background.
  • Health and safety management training such as IOSH or equivalent.
  • Training in temporary works and excavation safety.
  • Permitting qualifications for live energy works.
  • Certified training in working at heights and scaffolding.
  • Competence in lifting and cranage operations.
  • Additional HSEQS training in line with the site health and safety plan.
  • Familiarity with modern construction technologies and building information modeling (BIM) strategy.

Desirable

  • Completion of relevant project management courses or qualifications.
  • Graduation from the company’s internal management program.
  • Degree in engineering, construction management, or related fields.
