Role Overview
The Server position, reporting to the Support Services Manager or designate, involves delivering full dining services in the facility's dining room, lounges, and through room service. The role is centered on providing excellent customer service related to culinary experiences for residents, guests, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare dining areas for service, which includes setting tables, stocking necessary items, and assisting in food and beverage presentation and serving.
- Perform cleaning duties such as clearing and bussing tables, scraping, and occasionally washing dishes, adhering to infection control policies.
- Create and maintain a pleasant dining atmosphere that respects resident dignity, happiness, and safety.
- Promote positive communication and relationships among staff, residents, and visitors.
- Handle housekeeping and laundry tasks as required.
- Participate in community events and continuing education programs.
- Respond promptly to emergencies involving residents or the building.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- One to two years of experience in a dining room setting is advantageous.
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
- Serving It Right Certificate, if applicable.
- WHMIS certification.
- Strong teamwork and collaborative abilities.
- Successful completion of vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check as required by provincial regulations.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, including following oral and written directions.
- Capability to operate relevant food service equipment.
- Good physical health, freedom from communicable diseases, and absence of allergies or conditions aggravated by cleaning agents and equipment use.
