Role Summary
The Server role reports directly to the Support Services Manager or their delegate. This role involves delivering service across the dining room, resident lounges, and room service for residents, visitors, and the public, focusing on offering excellent customer service related to the culinary experience.
Job Duties
- Prepare the dining environment by setting tables, stocking necessary items, and assisting with the preparation, presentation, and serving of meals and beverages.
- Execute cleaning duties within the dining area including clearing tables, bussing, dish scraping, and occasional dishwashing, adhering strictly to Infection Protection and Control protocols.
- Create and maintain an ambiance that supports pleasant dining experiences by ensuring residents' comfort, dignity, happiness, and safety.
- Encourage and sustain positive communication and relationships among staff, residents, and visitors.
- Handle housekeeping and laundry responsibilities as needed.
- Participate actively in community and educational programs.
- Respond suitably to resident and building emergencies.
- Carry out any additional tasks as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational qualification equivalent to Grade 10 or a relevant mix of education, training, and experience.
- Preferably 1-2 years of experience working in a dining room setting.
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.
- Serving It Right Certificate where applicable.
- Possession of a WHMIS certificate.
- Strong teamwork skills with a collaborative approach.
- Completion of a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check as per provincial regulations.
- Proficient English language skills with ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Competence in operating food service equipment.
- Good physical health to handle food service tools, free from communicable diseases and allergies or medical conditions that could be affected by working with cleaning agents and equipment.
