Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will join the Efficiency team within the Product, Data & Engineering division to develop and maintain cloud infrastructure, delivery workflows, and observability tooling underpinning the Collect platform, InDebted's core system. This full-time position based in Greater Sydney demands a hybrid working arrangement with at least three days per week onsite.

Key Duties

• Design, implement, and manage AWS cloud environments utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code, particularly Terraform.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to facilitate frequent, secure deployments.
• Create and enhance observability frameworks covering metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting systems.
• Analyze and troubleshoot incidents, driving continuous improvement through post-incident reviews.
• Automate operational processes to minimize manual effort, emphasizing AI-assisted tools to reduce toil.
• Contribute to architectural decisions impacting system reliability and scalability.
• Support product feature development as needed alongside infrastructure responsibilities.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote elevated operational standards via code reviews and knowledge sharing.

Candidate Profile

• At least five years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise in AWS cloud services and Infrastructure-as-Code, especially Terraform.
• Proficient in establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using contemporary deployment practices.
• Solid understanding of observability tools and production operations including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Adept in Test-Driven Development with a commitment to high-quality code.
• Versatile programmer experienced in multiple languages, capable of learning new languages quickly.
• Excellent communication skills and proactive ownership with readiness for public accountability.
• Willingness to work onsite in Sydney office at least three days weekly.
• Knowledge of Go, Elixir, AWS ECS, BuildKite, or Grafana is advantageous.
• Experience in Domain-Driven Design, event sourcing, distributed systems, cloud security, compliance, or financial operations (FinOps) is a plus.
• Proven experience integrating AI tools into daily engineering tasks.
