Senior Software Architect

Role Overview

We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Software Architect to play a pivotal role in defining the foundation of secure, mission-critical technology within the Application Department based in Abu Dhabi. This position provides a unique opportunity to lead the creation of a versatile software platform that supports multiple products by combining strategic architectural oversight with hands-on involvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate, design, and direct the development of a shared software platform adaptable across various products.
• Encourage and enforce modular, decoupled architectures to facilitate independent development while maintaining a unified software framework.
• Advocate for DevOps best practices such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure as code to enhance development productivity and product quality.
• Utilize modern architectural methods and cloud-native technologies to construct air-gapped, low-latency, and high-performance systems.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with broader strategic goals and product roadmaps.
• Participate in architectural and technology decision-making through consensus building and sharing knowledge across diverse product teams.
• Operate within multidisciplinary Agile teams applying Agile principles and tools.
• Maintain hands-on involvement with product teams to comprehend practical constraints and impacts of architectural choices.
• Assist teams in translating architectural guidance into robust, maintainable software systems.

Candidate Profile

• A minimum of eight years’ experience in professional software development.
• At least three years in a leadership role or equivalent technical lead capacity.
• Expertise in Kotlin and Java programming languages.
• Experience designing reactive systems and message-driven architectures.
• In-depth understanding of data modeling and optimization strategies such as CQRS.
• Proficiency with relational and time-series database management.
• Familiarity operating with Ubuntu Linux and containerization tools.
• Competence using CI/CD technologies like GitLab CI and TeamCity.
• Knowledge of actor model frameworks, including Akka.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging capabilities.
• Effective communication skills to clearly explain complex technical concepts to varied stakeholders.
• Adaptability and efficiency in dynamic, high-pressure project settings.
• Proficient in written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level or higher.
