Role Summary

Docusign seeks an experienced and innovative Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop cutting-edge solutions utilizing mining, deep learning, natural language processing, and document processing technologies. This individual contributor role reports to the Director of Machine Learning and focuses on prototyping models to enhance personalized, automated customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the ML team to research, test, and evaluate existing and emerging NLP, machine learning, and deep learning methods applicable to contract and legal domains.
• Utilize NLP techniques to sustain and extend current rule-based, supervised, and unsupervised learning approaches.
• Implement ML and deep learning algorithms for NLP tasks including Named Entity Recognition, Part of Speech tagging, syntactic parsing, sentiment analysis, clustering, and text prediction.
• Develop an in-depth understanding of Docusign’s technology stack, software development lifecycle, product codebase, and release management processes.
• Support and enhance ongoing training, maintenance, and enrichment workflows for machine learning models.
• Deploy machine learning models into production environments, leveraging modern ML methodologies.
• Work closely with Product Management to convert product requirements into quantifiable, customer-neutral ML success metrics.

Work Arrangement

This position is hybrid, requiring employees to split their work week between office presence and remote work, typically mandating a minimum of two days per week onsite.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring machine learning and deep learning solutions.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, spaCy, and scikit-learn.
• Experience in programming languages including Python, C#, Java, or C/C++.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, applied mathematics, or related computational disciplines.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Proven track record with sequence-based deep learning model development and deployment.
• Experience with state-of-the-art NLP transformer models such as GPT-2, BERT, and XLNet.
• Knowledge of computer vision techniques.
• Strong commitment to continuous professional growth and industry advancement.
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts including training, validation, testing, precision/recall, and bias/variance trade-offs.
• Skill in handling large and varied structured and unstructured datasets, including data cleansing and manipulation.
• Contributions toward the development of language-agnostic contract clause recognition technologies.
