Job Overview
Wood is seeking a Senior Cost Controller to support its expanding business in Qatar. This role focuses on managing project execution aligned with project plans and company procedures concerning safety, quality control, manpower, cost, and scheduling targets. The role involves working on FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield projects, primarily for onshore and offshore oil and gas sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for assigned scopes.
- Help prepare project budgets following the Basis of Estimate, including scope statements, assumptions, man-hour estimates and review of client documents.
- Coordinate with procurement, finance, time-capture teams, and third parties to ensure accurate and timely cost allocations aligned with the approved WBS.
- Monitor project activities with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to assess their effects on budget, schedule, and cost forecasts.
- Support project approval processes related to budget setup and cost code allocation.
- Use relevant software applications to maintain and update project cost budgets.
- Track cost commitments and expenditures throughout all project phases.
- Contribute to production of project cost performance and forecast reports as needed.
- Assist with monitoring manpower cost impacts and preparing project change orders and variations based on engineering/construction change notices.
- Communicate cost and schedule impacts arising from change notifications.
- Monitor overall cost performance including contingency usage.
- Participate in project meetings, cost close-outs, and risk analysis sessions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement reviews related to project controls compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business field or equivalent vocational training/industry experience.
- A minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience in cost control and project management.
- Strong computer proficiency and understanding of project management methodologies.
- Self-driven and proactive with excellent communication skills and organizational awareness.
- Capable of independently managing assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
