Job description

Role Overview

We seek a Senior Applied Scientist passionate about developing innovative services and tools powered by generative AI and machine learning, aimed at enhancing developers' cloud experience. You will contribute to building Large Language Model (LLM)-centric services collaborating closely with AWS Cloud9, the AWS IDE Toolkit, and AWS Bedrock. This position invites candidates excited by cloud computing innovations and AWS service development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and refine LLMs, AI agents, and automated tools for business applications using Python and open-source libraries.
  • Ensure high technical standards and modeling quality to enhance product value and support scientific and engineering teams.
  • Address challenges developers encounter with cloud solutions by creating scalable, reusable models.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering teams to integrate solutions into production environments and resolve technical obstacles.
  • Document and communicate research findings through internal reports, presentations, and participation in external scientific publications.

The AWS Developer Tools Science team pioneers the use of generative AI and foundational models to revolutionize the experience of AWS developers across various tools, including IDEs and web-based platforms. Within the AWS Utility Computing organization, members contribute to foundational AWS services such as S3, EC2, and advanced specialized security solutions under Amazon Dedicated Cloud, supporting a broad technology portfolio.

Qualifications

  • PhD enrollment or completion.
  • Proven experience developing models for practical business applications.
  • Track record of patents or publications at reputable peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  • Expertise in areas including algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Professional software development experience.
  • Background with Data & AI technologies, including AI/ML, GenAI, Analytics, Database, or Storage systems.
