Role Overview
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for spearheading the creation of autonomous AI co-worker systems, multi-step reasoning solutions, and enterprise-ready intelligent workflows. This role involves designing, engineering, and deploying large language model (LLM)-driven agentic platforms that enable planning, decision-making, and action execution at scale while maintaining safety and reliability. You will also guide technical architecture, mentor junior colleagues, and ensure robustness and alignment of AI systems that drive seamless human-AI collaboration in complex enterprise contexts.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and deploy LLM-based agentic systems featuring planning, tool usage, workflow orchestration, and reasoning abilities.
- Utilize machine learning and advanced analytics to empower autonomous AI co-worker decision-making processes.
- Improve multi-step reasoning performance, context management, and agent effectiveness across real-world enterprise implementations.
- Lead machine learning operations (MLOps) efforts emphasizing evaluation, benchmarking, safety, and quality assurance for autonomous intelligence systems.
- Shape long-term strategies related to agentic AI frameworks, governance policies, and scalable deployment methodologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and leadership teams to deliver production-grade AI co-worker solutions for a global client base.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data scientists, elevating the team's scientific and engineering standards.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field.
- Experience as a software developer or demonstrated willingness to learn TypeScript is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of successful machine learning deployments in complex operational environments.
- Solid understanding of natural language processing techniques including transformers, LSTMs, CNNs, topic modeling, and supervised NLP methods.
- Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), multi-agent architectures, or tool-calling frameworks.
- Proficiency in Python focused on AI/ML development, with familiarity in additional programming languages.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Exhibit traits of curiosity, humility, ownership, and adaptability in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Willingness to work onsite at the Sydney CBD office 1–2 days per week.
