Position Overview
Working as a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada provides an excellent opportunity to develop essential skills in customer service and retail operations. This role involves assisting customers during their self-checkout process to ensure a smooth shopping experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized self-checkout area free from clutter, spills, and foreign objects.
- Promote Walmart's company programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives when applicable.
- Assist customers in using the self-checkout stations efficiently, providing clear and friendly guidance, monitoring activities, and addressing any required verifications or cash and technical issues by escalating them to the Customer Service Manager.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts, completing the related "Failure to Deactivate" documentation.
- Manage Scan & Go equipment by ensuring scanners are returned correctly after use.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by business demands.
Challenges in the Role
- Handle high task volumes in a fast-paced, sometimes overnight, work setting while maintaining energy and focus.
- Perform physically demanding activities including prolonged standing, bending, and lifting supplies weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and sometimes up to 50 lbs.
- Complete repetitive tasks such as stocking and organizing products meticulously to maintain store standards.

Compensation
The starting hourly pay for this position is $15.50.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
