Range Services Technician

Role Overview

The Range Services Technician is tasked with aiding the setup, upkeep, and operation of test range facilities at the Abu Al Abyad Test Range. This role is critical in ensuring that test activities are conducted safely, effectively, and align with operational and customer expectations.

Collaborating with engineers, clients, Range Conducting Officers (RCOs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), contractors, and internal teams, the technician supports test range operations by deploying equipment and infrastructure, performing maintenance, and delivering technical field assistance across diverse testing processes.

Key Duties

• Arrange test locations by installing equipment, barriers, targets, and necessary infrastructure.
• Assist in deploying, running, and maintaining testing apparatus and systems.
• Carry out routine checks and upkeep of test range facilities and equipment.
• Coordinate with Operations, RCOs, and SMEs to ensure client-reserved infrastructure and services function smoothly.
• Offer technical support for temporary installations, target setup, and ad-hoc mechanical or electrical tasks.
• Support field services including hygiene facilities, climate control, power, and water needs.
• Operate various equipment, vehicles, and auxiliary systems when needed.
• Help during test activities to guarantee proper delivery of all supporting services.
• Accurately document operational data and observations made during testing.
• Comply with safety regulations and operational procedures.
• Maintain records and documentation related to targets, facilities, and equipment maintenance.
• Assist with technical reports and summaries of operations.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful test completion.
• Manage inventories of equipment, tools, consumables, and spare parts.
• Assist procurement activities for replacing equipment and materials.

Core Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in technical, field services, maintenance, or operational support roles.
• Associate Degree or equivalent technical qualification in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
• Valid UAE driving license.
• Proven ability to operate and maintain technical equipment, machinery, or support systems.
• Solid technical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair skills.
• Understanding of safety protocols and best practices in operational or test environments.
• Familiarity with health and safety risk assessment procedures.
• Awareness of military equipment and defense-related operations beneficial.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, procedures, and standard operating processes.
• Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in challenging conditions.
• Capability to operate various vehicle types.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications related to safety, testing, maintenance, or operational procedures are favorable.
• Arabic language skills.
• Experience handling plant, machinery, or heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of defense sector equipment across land, sea, and air domains.
• Experience supporting test ranges, military, defence, engineering, or industrial operations is advantageous.
