Role Overview
We are seeking a Purchasing Executive based in Galway to join our team and contribute to procurement activities for various construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee important purchasing categories such as PPE and concrete accessories.
- Support the Goods Received Note (GRN) process to ensure all dockets are current.
- Distribute material tender enquiries via email to suppliers.
- Evaluate and compare supplier quotes for material procurement approval.
- Uphold ethical and consistent procurement practices.
- Stay informed on supply market trends locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Maintain cordial and productive relationships with suppliers.
- Assist in selecting suppliers for various JJR project sites across regions.
- Regularly update price books within SAP.
- Analyze spending on SAP for designated product categories and issue tenders to secure competitive pricing as needed.
- Manage and report project costs against budgets for assigned spend categories.
- Support bill of quantities abstraction under supervision to facilitate tender quotes.
- Understand fundamental functional and commercial procurement principles.
- Provide assistance with general purchasing and procurement activities.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of regularly purchased materials and reliable suppliers meeting delivery timelines.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong ability to prioritize procurement issues effectively.
- Capability to meet tight deadlines ensuring timely procurement of goods and services.
- Technical know-how to propose alternative materials or methods and evaluate their cost-effectiveness.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to thoroughly analyze supplier quotes, foresee potential risks or benefits, and respond accordingly.
- Effective communication skills across all levels of the supply market.
Experience
Previous experience within the construction sector is preferred but not mandatory.
