Job Overview
This role involves operating perforation machinery, inspecting product quality, assembly, packaging, and supporting various production activities to meet customer and company standards at Amcor's Calhoun, GA facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate perforation equipment and control the perforation robot cell while monitoring its operations.
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards before and during production.
- Assemble and stack rolls according to customer and internal requirements.
- Procure packaging materials and prepare shipments efficiently.
- Complete quality control tasks including roll unwind checks, perforation inspection, diameter and alignment verifications.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) to transport materials.
- Maintain accurate records via JD Edwards scanning for production and inventory tracking.
- Perform line setups independently and ensure stretch-wrapping, labeling, and printing are completed as required.
- Operate side cutter by setting it up per specifications and maintain accuracy and quality.
- Assist other operators when handling specific products and provide cross-trained coverage for extruder and pelletizer as a relief operator.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work area through housekeeping duties.
- Adhere strictly to safety practices and BRC Food Safety Standards.
- Fulfill any other duties assigned by supervisors or managers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience ranging from 2 to 5 years in a manufacturing environment; extrusion experience preferred.
- Commitment to Amcor’s Safety, Health, and Environmental policies.
- Ability to read, write, and complete required documentation accurately.
- Capable of working independently and handling workplace problems.
- Must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, face shields, gloves, and masks.
- Willing and able to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and shifts of 12 or more hours.
- Physically capable of standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Punctuality and reliable attendance are essential.
- Must be able to obtain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification.
- Measurement skills with ruler, tape measure, and caliper, plus basic math competency.
