Job description

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Oracle Database Developer with extensive experience in enterprise database development and data warehousing. This role will involve designing, developing, testing, optimizing, and maintaining scalable database infrastructures that support business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and operational systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create, test, and sustain enterprise-level database and data warehouse solutions.
  • Develop and enhance database objects including stored procedures, functions, triggers, packages, views, and complex SQL queries.
  • Design data warehouse schemas and orchestrate ETL/ELT pipelines to consolidate data from diverse sources whilst ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct thorough performance tuning such as query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and managing workload in environments with heavy data volume.
  • Automate database and data processing workflows utilizing Python and PySpark.
  • Collaborate closely with business units, BI teams, data engineers, and application support to convert business needs into robust, scalable technical solutions.
  • Oversee code deployments across various environments and perform rigorous code reviews.
  • Contribute to 24/7 production support including incident handling, troubleshooting, addressing performance issues, and diagnosing root causes.
  • Guide and mentor junior developers and engage actively in technical projects and best practice development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years practical experience in database development, with at least 5 years dedicated to Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Proven expertise in Amazon Redshift and AWS data services such as S3, Glue, and EMR.
  • Strong background in data warehousing, ETL/ELT development, and data modeling.
  • Hands-on skills in Python and PySpark for data engineering and automation in high-volume data contexts.
  • Experience with BI tools like Power BI, MicroStrategy, or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and usage of Git or other version control systems.
  • Preferred experience within the airline or aviation sector, especially handling PNR, bookings, passenger data, revenue, or flight information.
  • Experience in mentorship or leadership roles within technical teams is a plus.
