As a Meter Reader based in The Villages, FL, you will play a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted municipal services by performing accurate meter readings and maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct meter readings and log the data for assigned routes.
- Verify meters are operating properly and identify malfunctions or skipped meters.
- Communicate reading interpretations clearly to customers.
- Perform repairs such as fixing leaks and broken lines, turning meters on or off, and assisting with meter and box installations.
- Implement preventive maintenance to support efficient operations.
- Prioritize safety and health for oneself and the team while performing duties.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a valid driver’s license with clean driving record (no major infractions).
- Basic understanding of plumbing and water meter installation and repairs.
- Familiarity with the local street geography is a plus.
- Ability to write clearly and legibly.
- Competent in performing routine mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
- Demonstrated tact and courtesy in interactions with the public.
- Commitment to following safe work protocols.
