Role Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering department on a 24-month fixed-term contract based in Dungarvan. This role involves supporting the manufacturing equipment’s safe, compliant, and efficient functioning within a GMP-regulated environment. Key functions include planned and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, enhancing equipment reliability, and assisting with engineering projects to minimize downtime and optimize production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventive and corrective maintenance on production and packaging machinery with a focus on safety and quality standards.
- Identify and resolve faults using structured troubleshooting techniques to reduce mean time to repair and maximize machine uptime.
- Execute maintenance tasks including PMs, CMs, and safety/quality critical jobs via the maintenance management system (MERPs).
- Operate in compliance with safe work systems such as Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Permit to Work (PTW), risk assessments, and engineering safety protocols.
- Participate in root cause analyses and breakdown investigations, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promptly respond to equipment breakdowns and collaborate with production teams to restore functionality swiftly.
- Support initiatives for continuous improvement and reliability aimed at reducing operational interruptions.
- Maintain thorough maintenance records and update engineering documentation, including maintenance procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, quality, and site operational protocols consistently.
- Contribute to sharing best engineering practices within the team.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Completion of Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification such as NVQ, BTEC, City & Guilds.
- Relevant experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Technician, or similar engineering role.
- Background in FMCG, pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, medical device or comparable high-volume production environments.
- Proficient in fault diagnosis, breakdown repair, and preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
- Knowledge of GMP regulations and compliance systems related to engineering.
- Familiarity with safety systems like LOTO, PTW and maintenance management software (CMMS/MERPs).
Desirable Attributes:
- Qualifications such as ONC or HNC in Engineering.
- Experience in highly automated manufacturing settings.
- Involvement in equipment reliability programs, continuous improvement projects, or asset care strategies.
Salary and Benefits
The expected salary for this role ranges from EUR 40,275 to EUR 55,378.40, dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal pay equity considerations.
