Job description
Job Overview
The MCC Engineer serves as the primary contact for all aircraft maintenance activities within the UAE and at associated hubs and outstations. This role operates around the clock to guarantee the readiness and legal airworthiness of Air Arabia's fleet and third-party airplanes, aligning with business goals, regulatory mandates from authorities like GCAA/CAA, and the airline's own quality protocols.
Core Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, document, and track technical defects across the fleet to ensure all Airworthiness Maintenance Program (AMP) tasks are completed promptly and aircraft meet technical standards whether airborne or grounded.
- Provide dedicated assistance to Engineering Planning, Development, STP, and Quality Assurance teams for both short and long-term fleet maintenance projects, overseeing the safe and timely return of aircraft to service.
- Manage prioritization and distribution of maintenance work packages among teams, ensuring timely and efficient task completion and handover.
- Proactively implement corrective and preventive strategies to mitigate risks that could compromise fleet airworthiness or disrupt operations.
- Offer technical advice to maintenance personnel at line, base, and outstations, as well as third-party Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs) on a 24/7 schedule, ensuring all services adhere to GCAA/CAA regulations, Air Arabia standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Provide technical support to flight crews and cabin staff during flights and on the ground, with flexibility to accommodate scheduling adjustments as needed.
- Ensure accurate and prompt maintenance task documentation in aircraft logbooks, including radio communications, and guide flight personnel on proper record-keeping procedures.
- Assist management and stakeholders in monitoring flight technical performance, incident reporting, and timely communication of defect identification and rectification following formal channels.
- Analyze technical performance trends and recommend remedial actions to prevent recurrence. Support internal and external audits by ensuring compliance within the MCC.
- Collaborate with training management to oversee technical training programs, licensing compliance, and conduct coaching, mentoring, and assessments for in-house and third-party engineering staff.
- Handle network-wide emergencies, including Aircraft on Ground (AOG) scenarios, recommending solutions and, if necessary, grounding aircraft in line with protocols. Lead debrief sessions to share lessons learned among MCC and maintenance teams.
- Maintain strong communication and reporting channels with service providers, suppliers, and MROs concerning service quality and operational feedback.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aircraft Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent; alternatively, a diploma from an accredited engineering institution with relevant experience.
- Holds or has held a type-rating maintenance releasing license; additional type ratings beneficial.
- Membership in professional aviation or airline associations is advantageous.
- Proficient with technology and software tools, including Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in English is required.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 8 years experience in aviation engineering maintenance, including at least 3 years in Maintenance Control Center functions, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
- Practical knowledge of Civil Aviation Authority regulations, preferably GCAA, concerning engineering maintenance policies, licensing, and operational standards.
- Understanding of airline flight operations and regulatory requirements, plus insight into flight crew perspectives.
- Experience with Quality Assurance, Safety, and audit processes relevant to maintenance functions.
- Composed and level-headed personality with the ability to efficiently manage emergency situations and deliver safe outcomes.
- Expertise in developing and applying maintenance procedures and manuals consistent with business and regulatory standards.
- Strong focus on detail, accuracy, and result-oriented execution.
- Ability to interpret data clearly and communicate complex concepts effectively.
- Demonstrated analytical skills for identifying issues and proposing cost-efficient solutions.
