Division Overview

Within KLA, the Measurement, Analytics and Control (MACH) group drives advances in chip design by developing solutions to detect and control complex process variations at the source stage. Their cutting-edge technologies enable patterning process analytics, advanced modeling, simulation, data analytics, and process control modeling for semiconductor manufacturing. They support global chipmakers in ramping up next-generation devices efficiently and cost-effectively.

Role Summary

The MACH Applications Development Engineer will lead new product introductions by defining specifications, characterizing products, and conducting alpha and beta testing. Responsibilities include providing application support before and after sales by collaborating with customers to clarify technical problems and facilitate solutions. The role involves creating Best Known Method (BKM) documents, training materials, and sharing knowledge widely.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and lead projects for launching new products, covering definition, characterization, and various testing phases.
• Deliver application support in collaboration with customers on-site to investigate, gather and analyze data, resulting in identification of root causes of process patterning issues.
• Develop and distribute operational documents such as BKM and training resources.
• Design and implement control solutions for process tools to minimize patterning defects and enhance yield.
• Collaborate with customers to co-author technical papers for industry symposiums and journals.
• Engage in hands-on use of KLA’s metrology systems and software platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or closely related fields.
• Practical experience with semiconductor process tools, metrology applications, or process development is required.
• Expertise in one or more areas: overlay, stress-related process errors, scanner tools, lithography metrology, etch metrology, or process development.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong self-motivation, teamwork capabilities, organizational skills, and interpersonal effectiveness.
• Familiarity with KLA metrology systems is advantageous.
• Programming or scripting skills are considered a plus.
