Job description
Overview
The Loss Prevention Associate plays a vital role in safeguarding our retail store by managing security systems, conducting extensive surveillance including perimeter monitoring, performing inventory cycle counts, and assisting in loss investigations. This role also involves presenting preventive measures during team meetings and associate onboarding, with occasional travel to other store locations for investigative purposes. The wage offered ranges from $18.50 to $23.00 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize loss prevention techniques to investigate internal cases thoroughly.
- Document and build detailed reports to support investigative findings.
- Lead inquiries into incidents of theft within the store environment.
- Perform audits of inventory and log discrepancies or shortages accurately.
- Apprehend shoplifters following company policies and procedures.
- Oversee maintenance and review of the store's security infrastructure.
- Ensure surveillance equipment remains functional and reliable through regular testing.
- Monitor live video feeds and conduct surveillance including external perimeter checks.
- Promote loss prevention awareness by partnering with management and delivering informational sessions.
- Conduct interviews with employees during investigative processes.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and other relevant authorities following investigations.
- Travel as needed to support investigations at different store locations.
Required Qualifications
- Trade Certification or College Diploma.
- Between two to five years of relevant experience, preferably in loss prevention or law enforcement.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous for emergency response duties.
- Exceptional attention to detail and urgency in executing investigations and security measures.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with associates, customers, and law enforcement officials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Experience with investigative procedures within retail or security settings.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License to facilitate travel for investigative support.
- Hands-on knowledge of surveillance equipment operation and monitoring techniques.
- Familiarity with inventory control processes and auditing procedures.
- Understanding of building supplies industry and retail loss prevention best practices.
