Job description
Role Overview
We seek a Software Engineer well-versed in localization tools and workflows to bolster the technical infrastructure behind localized products and content. This role encompasses backend software development coupled with expertise in Translation Management Systems (TMS), localization automation, integration, and comprehensive localization processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in software engineering.
- Practical expertise with localization platforms like Phrase, Passolo, or equivalent TMS tools.
- In-depth understanding of complete localization cycles, spanning content extraction, translation, review, quality assurance, and deployment.
- Proficiency in programming languages including but not limited to Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL database technologies.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
- Skills in designing and enhancing automation frameworks.
- Strong capabilities in backend development and problem-solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity integrating localization workflows within CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of automated linguistic quality assurance and validation tools.
- Experience developing APIs, microservices, and system integrations.
- Exposure to artificial intelligence applications in translation or localization workflow automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical expert for localization implementation and quality benchmarks across assigned products or content domains.
- Enhance localization production efficiency, quality, and scalability through engineering-led solutions.
- Offer technical support and guidance to suppliers and internal teams regarding localization tools and execution.
- Detect and resolve workflow bottlenecks through system enhancements and automation initiatives.
- Contribute to evolving shared localization tools and technical standards.
- Develop and improve integrations between product systems, TMS platforms, content repositories, and CI/CD environments.
- Create automation solutions for content extraction, file handling, translation management, validation, and testing.
- Collaborate closely with Localization Program Management and related technical teams to uphold localization strategy and quality criteria.
