Job Location and Details
This opportunity is based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, within the Build Operate Maintain category. The role is full-time on an hourly wage basis with a continental day shift schedule alternating weekly between Monday-Tuesday-Friday-Saturday and Sunday-Wednesday-Thursday.
The pay rate is $42.85 per hour, with a $3,000 sign-on bonus. Candidates must hold a valid Ontario or Inter-Provincial 433A Millwright Certificate.
Role Overview
As a Maintenance Millwright at Cargill’s Dunlop Facility, you will ensure the smooth and safe operation of both mechanical and electrical systems by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and repairing equipment. The position demands rigorous safety standards, technical proficiency, and adaptability to a dynamic beef processing plant environment.
Candidate Requirements
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada and be 18 years or older.
- Possess an Ontario or Inter-Provincial 433A Millwright Certificate recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario or hold Red Seal Certification.
- Completion of 8,000 apprenticeship hours with a full license.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience as a licensed Mechanic Millwright in manufacturing or production facilities.
- Physical capability to perform bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency in reading and writing English.
- Comfortable working at heights of 4 feet or more and within confined spaces.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and through various environmental conditions such as dust, noise, and temperature extremes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and carry out repairs on machinery and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical breakdowns.
- Operate motorized vehicles and relevant equipment safely.
- Adhere strictly to safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to achieve production objectives.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in food manufacturing and knowledge of Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulations.
- Certification in welding or experience in other trades.
- Familiarity with Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) or Material Requirement Planning (MRP) software systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and layout drawings accurately.
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
