Role Overview
We are seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to direct the embedded software initiatives behind Gallagher's cutting-edge products. In this role, you will guide technical architectures across firmware, connectivity, and device software while maintaining hands-on involvement in solving complex problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the architectural vision and technical direction for embedded software platforms supporting core products.
- Provide technical leadership through design assessments, code reviews, and problem-solving.
- Mentor and develop a team of embedded software engineers.
- Promote engineering best practices, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Influence technology strategy across multiple product lines.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Hardware Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and other team members to deliver innovative connected devices.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates have significant experience in embedded software leadership and are equally comfortable addressing complex technical challenges and supporting team growth. You demonstrate credibility through your expertise, communicate effectively across disciplines, and balance robust architectural development with delivering high-quality products.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience developing embedded software for commercial products.
- In-depth knowledge of C/C++, real-time operating systems, embedded Linux, or similar embedded platforms.
- Proven skills in designing scalable embedded software architectures.
- Experience leading or mentoring embedded software engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Agile product development methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities.
