We are seeking a passionate Journalist for the Local News team at Shin Min Daily News in Singapore. This role involves investigating, researching, and delivering impactful local news stories to the community. The ideal candidate will have strong storytelling skills, an inquisitive mindset, and a commitment to producing timely and compelling journalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough research and investigations on local news and current affairs.
• Interview diverse sources and stakeholders to gather relevant information.
• Create content that is accurate, engaging, and delivered promptly for publication.
• Spot emerging story ideas and develop news angles with acute news judgement.
• Collaborate closely with editors and colleagues to maintain high journalistic standards under tight deadlines.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Chinese Language, or a related field.
• Previous experience in journalism, media, or editorial roles is advantageous.
• Excellent bilingual proficiency in both Chinese and English, written and spoken.
• Strong enthusiasm for current events, journalism, and news discovery.
• Effective interpersonal and communication capabilities to engage with a wide range of individuals.
• Resourceful and adaptable, able to work independently and cooperate well within teams.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing pressure and irregular working hours.
