Junior Lighting Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Lighting Specialist with practical production expertise to assist in studio and outdoor filming projects, including podcasts, interviews, digital content creation, live broadcasts, and other content-centric productions. Reporting to the Lighting Manager, this role collaborates across various departments within STUDIO+65 to craft visual atmospheres and deliver striking visual experiences for digital and social media channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, operate, adjust, and dismantle professional lighting and grip gear.
• Implement lighting designs for studio, outdoor settings, and on-location shoots.
• Manipulate light using fixtures, diffusers, flags, reflectors, modifiers, and other grip accessories.
• Manage lighting fixtures and control systems, such as DMX and GrandMA3 consoles.
• Assist with pre-lighting setup, rehearsals, programming, and oversee live production lighting.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to lighting, DMX control, power supplies, cables, and fixtures.
• Adjust lighting arrangements based on varying locations, weather conditions, ambient lighting, and production needs.
• Coordinate closely with Camera, Engineering, Production, and other teams during shooting sessions.
• Maintain and organize lighting and grip equipment properly.
• Provide support and mentorship to interns or junior personnel when required.
• Adhere strictly to safe working procedures at all times.

Candidate Requirements

• Preferably 5 or more years of relevant production experience in studio, broadcast, film/video, digital content, live productions, events, or location-based shoots.
• Applicants with less experience but solid hands-on lighting and production skills will also be considered.
• Strong practical understanding of lighting apparatus and camera lighting techniques.
• Knowledgeable about color temperature, exposure, diffusion, contrast, and light shaping methods.
• Experience using DMX systems and GrandMA3 is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Capable of working independently and following directions from the Lighting Manager or Lead.
• Prepared for irregular hours including studio and on-location shooting schedules.
• Physical endurance to meet job demands such as extended standing and lifting equipment.
• Proficient in English; command of an additional language such as Chinese, Malay, or Tamil is a plus.
