Job description
Overview
The role involves direct field supervision of road construction and rehabilitation activities, including monitoring earthworks, asphalt paving, and traffic safety measures. The inspector ensures adherence to the highest quality standards and technical specifications set by the Riyadh Municipality and the Saudi Roads Code.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site quality control inspections.
- Continuously monitor reception and layering of filling materials, spreading and compacting, and asphalt paving operations.
- Verify compliance with asphalt mix specifications, temperature ranges, and compaction ratios as per engineering standards of Riyadh Municipality.
- Coordinate field quality tests such as density, thickness, and materials testing with QA/QC engineers and laboratories.
- Oversee road efficiency enhancement projects including rehabilitation, milling, overlaying, intersection modifications, and sidewalk widening.
- Supervise implementation of traffic safety measures like warning signs, detours, barriers, and road markings on-site.
- Address critical points and overlaps with existing infrastructure such as stormwater drainage, utilities, and lighting.
- Manage site coordination by supervising subcontractors and field labor to ensure project timelines are met.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports covering field accomplishments and technical observations for project management.
- Measure executed quantities on-site and verify conformity with approved plans (As-Built Drawings).
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Road Construction; or high school diploma with extensive proven field experience.
- At least 7 continuous years of experience in a first-class road contracting company demonstrating job stability and strong field expertise.
- Previous involvement in Riyadh Municipality projects specifically in road efficiency upgrades, rehabilitation, or corridor and intersection development.
- Strong knowledge of the Saudi Roads Code and Riyadh Municipality's technical standards and traffic safety guidelines.
- High proficiency in reading engineering drawings, traffic movement plans, and detour schemes.
- Competency with field quality measurement devices and asphalt and soil testing.
- Leadership qualities focused on strict enforcement of quality and safety standards onsite.
- Flexibility to manage work pressure and oversee site operations during maintenance and night shifts.
