Highway Patroller

Overview

Join Ledcor as a Highway Patroller where you'll play a key role in maintaining safe roadways throughout the year by overseeing highway conditions and supporting maintenance efforts. This position involves a mix of independent outdoor duties, public safety responsibilities, data collection, and minor maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled highway inspections and patrols in line with established performance and response standards.
• Evaluate and report on roadway hazards, surface conditions, and infrastructure issues.
• Utilize electronic tools such as tablets to document and track highway defects.
• React promptly to emergencies and unsafe situations impacting public travel.
• Inspect highway assets regularly including signage, lighting, guardrails, and road surfaces.
• Conduct minor repairs and maintenance like debris removal and sign adjustments during patrols.
• Communicate maintenance needs and hazards to supervisors and operation teams effectively.
• Support maintenance crews with general highway upkeep activities.
• Engage in emergency response activities as needed.
• Uphold health, safety, and environmental standards as part of the Ledcor commitment.

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean record.
• Demonstrated knowledge of highway infrastructure including road surfaces, signage, and guardrails.
• Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
• Proficiency with electronic field reporting tools and mobile devices.
• Self-motivated with the ability to make sound decisions independently in the field.
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and time management capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.

Working Conditions

• Majority of work takes place outdoors exposed to various weather throughout the year.
• Schedules may include evening, night shifts, weekends, and emergency responses depending on needs.
• Travel across designated highway maintenance zones will be required.
