Job description

About SkyGeo

SkyGeo assists engineers across organizations of various sizes to analyze and interpret millimeter-scale InSAR deformation patterns, enabling earlier and more efficient assessments of geological and geotechnical risks. Clients rely on these insights to monitor ground movement around critical infrastructure and operational sites. To expand our footprint in the Asia-Pacific region, we seek an experienced geoscience professional capable of bridging our technology with the practical challenges encountered by mining and engineering teams.

Your Role & Impact

As a Geoscience Consultant, you will help clients incorporate and utilize InSAR data within their geotechnical and operational workflows. Your primary mission is to ensure the technical success of our customers by collaborating closely with geotechnical engineers, geologists, and other specialists to comprehend onsite conditions, integrate InSAR data with other datasets, and convert complex data into actionable engineering insights. Mining operations will be a key area of focus, where you will assist clients in analyzing deformation related to slopes, tailings facilities, subsidence, infrastructure, and other geotechnical challenges. You will also contribute your expertise to the sales process by understanding and articulating customers' engineering problems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with geoscience and engineering teams to embed InSAR into their monitoring practices and decision-making processes.
  • Analyze deformation trends with consideration of mining operations, geological settings, and geotechnical conditions.
  • Integrate InSAR data with GIS, geological, monitoring, and other remote or onsite datasets.
  • Set up, manage, and optimize SkyGeo data feeds for your assigned projects.
  • Create impactful technical visualizations including maps, graphs, cross-sections, and animations.
  • Assist the Sales team with technically demanding customer engagements.
  • Collaborate with SkyGeo's InSAR Engineers and Data Analytics teams to align data outputs with application needs.
  • Travel to client locations across the Asia-Pacific region and engage with technical domain experts.
  • Represent SkyGeo’s technical expertise at industry events and conferences.
  • Continuously acquire knowledge about new technologies and develop innovative applications for SAR, InSAR, and related monitoring technologies.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Surveying, or related fields.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience, ideally within the mining sector.
  • Proficient understanding of geotechnical and geological challenges in active mining environments.
  • Experience collaborating with technical clients, engineering teams, and subject matter experts.
  • Competence in integrating and interpreting diverse datasets related to geology, geotechnical performance, and operational contexts.
  • Familiarity with GIS and relevant geoscience or technical software.
  • Knowledge of remote sensing, surveying, or monitoring techniques is beneficial; InSAR training will be provided.
  • Strong abilities in technical communication and the creation of visual materials.
  • Capable of independently addressing complex technical challenges with accuracy.
  • Curious and pragmatic mindset with enthusiasm for exploring new applications and methodologies.
  • Excellent command of English communication.
  • Willingness to undertake travel within the Asia-Pacific region as needed.

What We Offer

  • A chance to apply your technical expertise and insights within a growing Earth Observation enterprise.
  • Engagement with real-world geotechnical and mining issues employing state-of-the-art satellite surveillance technologies.
  • Opportunity to work directly with clients and specialists throughout the Asia-Pacific at a high-growth company.
  • Collaboration with a diverse international team comprising InSAR Engineers, Consultants, Developers, and commercial staff.
  • A dynamic startup-like atmosphere providing autonomy, professional growth, and career advancement.
