Position Overview
Joining Walmart Canada as a Meat Associate offers an excellent chance to enhance your skills within a fast-moving retail setting. This role focuses on outstanding customer service by embodying Walmart's core values, maintaining a clean and organized meat department, and supporting daily sales tasks. Team members contribute to creating a fresh and welcoming shopping environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat department, ensuring proper zoning and prompt rotation of stock including removal of expired or unsellable items.
- Ensure all products are accurately priced and labeled following established procedures for ordering, pricing adjustments, and signage.
- Adhere to stringent food safety and cold chain protocols by conducting temperature monitoring, using calibrated thermometers, practicing proper food handling, and complying with sell-by and expiration dates.
- Take customer orders and prepare deli products such as meat cuts, cheeses, and fried chicken using equipment like slicers, ovens, and deep fryers safely, while replenishing display cases.
- Comply with all workplace health, safety, and hygiene standards to maintain a safe environment.
- Demonstrate scheduling flexibility by working varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support store operations.
Challenges in this Role
- Effectively manage high workloads in a fast-paced environment, including overnight shifts, by planning to remain focused and energized.
- Perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting inventory up to 50 lbs occasionally, as well as repetitive stocking and organizing duties.

Compensation
The starting hourly pay for this position is $17.45.
