Job description
Overview
The Fleet Support and IoT Engineer plays a key role at Mowasalat Qatar by advancing the company’s mission to provide innovative, safe, and sustainable transport solutions. This role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining sophisticated IoT technologies and fleet management systems to optimize operational efficiency, boost safety standards, and enhance the customer journey. It requires collaboration with both internal departments and external partners to foster ongoing innovation and improvement in fleet and training functions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Engineer and deploy IoT initiatives targeting fleet operational enhancement, safety improvements, and enriched passenger experience.
- Integrate IoT systems smoothly with current infrastructure, applications, and platforms.
- Install, configure, and provide ongoing upkeep for hardware and software supporting the Karwa Academy’s operational and educational environment.
- Customize and develop software applications to improve operational workflows and effectiveness.
- Ensure fleet systems perform optimally with minimal downtime through active monitoring and maintenance.
- Supervise and optimize fleet management platforms that enable real-time vehicle tracking, scheduling maintenance tasks, vehicle diagnostics, and performance reporting.
- Implement preventive maintenance strategies tailored for electric and compressed natural gas vehicles.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for enhancement, particularly focusing on Karwa Academy’s fleet.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and insights to stakeholders demonstrating key performance indicators and actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, IT, maintenance, and customer service to support IoT and fleet initiatives.
- Communicate complex technical topics effectively to non-technical audiences and engage with external entities including regulators and service providers.
- Champion Karwa Academy’s technological strengths and initiatives to internal teams and external partners.
- Explore and support the adoption of emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and blockchain within fleet operations.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and new developments in IoT and fleet management.
- Uphold strict confidentiality for all sensitive data and conform to organizational policies and security standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- At least seven years of professional experience working in IoT solution development or fleet support systems, ideally within the transportation industry.
- A minimum of three to four years of relevant experience within the GCC region in an equivalent role.
- Preferred certifications include Certified IoT Developer (CIoTD), Certified Fleet Manager (CFM), and Project Management Professional (PMP).
Skills and Competencies
- Expertise in designing and implementing IoT solutions tailored to fleet operations.
- Strong knowledge of fleet management platforms and telematics.
- Proficiency with electric vehicle (EV) and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle technologies.
- Experience with data analytics, KPI development, and performance reporting.
- Familiarity with cloud computing services such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Excellent analytical capabilities combined with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, adapt to change, and drive continuous improvement.
