Role Overview

We are seeking a committed Fire Engineer to join our growing Fire Engineering team. This role involves working independently and collaboratively to uphold SOCOTEC's standards. The role demands a solid engineering background (mechanical, structural, civil, or similar), familiarity with fire safety regulations including Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, and BS 7974, and practical experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop fire safety strategies and related documentation for diverse building and infrastructure projects.
  • Offer advisory support, including conducting site visits during construction phases.
  • Prepare technical assessment reports on external wall systems and undertake advanced fire engineering analyses including CFD modelling, structural fire engineering using tools like FDS/PyroSim, Pathfinder, SAFIR, and B-Risk.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil, or related field) with a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering (certificate, diploma, or master’s).
  • At least two years’ relevant experience, demonstrating a passion for fire safety.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities, self-driven with effective prioritization skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
