Company Overview

The Building and Real Estate division of SOCOTEC UK & Ireland provides comprehensive services throughout the property lifecycle, including building surveying, project management, dilapidations advice, technical due diligence, compliance support, and sustainability consultancy. Their focus is on delivering technically sound and commercially viable solutions to ensure buildings are safe, efficient, and future-ready.

Role Summary

We are seeking a proactive and dependable Fire Engineer to join our Fire Engineering team based in Dublin, Ireland. This role demands the ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration within the team. Candidates should have an engineering background in fields such as mechanical, structural, civil, or related disciplines, paired with knowledge of fire safety regulations and standards like Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, and BS 7974.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate fire safety strategies and develop supporting documentation for various building and infrastructure projects.
  • Offer advisory support and conduct site inspections during the construction phase.
  • Prepare technical assessments, including evaluations of external wall systems and advanced fire engineering analyses utilizing software such as FDS/PyroSim, Pathfinder, SAFIR, and B-Risk.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (mechanical, structural, civil, or related field) complemented by a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering (certificate, diploma, or masters).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role with a strong passion for fire safety.
  • Effective communication skills, customer service orientation, self-motivation, the ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate within a team environment.
