About the Role
Gibson Dunn, an internationally acclaimed law firm known for advising on landmark transactions and disputes, is seeking a Finance Manager for its Riyadh office and the KSA RHQ finance operations. This role collaborates closely with the Middle East and EMEA finance teams, offering support and guidance across different locations. Reporting to the Head of Finance, EMEA and the Riyadh Director of Administration, with coordination liaising with the Los Angeles finance team, the position demands a high level of expertise in managing local and regional tax, finance, and compliance functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage VAT and tax compliance for the Riyadh office and KSA RHQ, including preparing and submitting VAT reports and ensuring adherence to KSA VAT regulations.
- Liaise with internal tax teams and external advisors to prepare IFRS financial statements for statutory auditing and handle ZATCA filings and queries.
- Oversee payment and recording of partnership and Zakat tax obligations, including Withholding Tax returns and related correspondence.
- Supervise Riyadh office general ledger activities, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and related report submissions in collaboration with the LA finance team.
- Monitor accounts receivable and oversee daily bank account management and receipt postings in Aderant accounting software.
- Manage treasury functions including cash flow forecasting, petty cash control, and funding transfers aligned with internal agreements.
- Coordinate billing processes using Aderant and Edicom platforms, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and proper invoicing practices.
- Oversee accounts payable and expense claims via Chrome River and Emburse systems, ensuring accuracy and policy compliance.
- Support ongoing financial operational agreements, generate tailored reports, participate in partner meetings, and handle ad hoc finance projects and office cover as needed.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi VAT, withholding tax regulations, Zakat levy, Sharia compliance, and corresponding local tax rules.
- Solid professional understanding of IFRS accounting standards and statutory auditing of professional services firms.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and independent work capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Superior communication skills with the ability to interact professionally across various levels.
- Familiarity with Aderant Expert or equivalent professional services firm software is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure, manage deadlines and interruptions.
- Exhibit sound judgment, diplomacy, professionalism, and courtesy.
Experience
Previous experience in a similar finance role within a professional services firm, ideally with multiple branch offices, preferably US-based, and a background in audit or tax practice is highly desirable.
Additional Information
The position involves collaborating with senior management and finance teams across locations, covering finance functions during peak periods, and undertaking additional finance-related duties as assigned by senior firm leadership.
