Estimator - Class 2 Residential Construction

Overview

A Sydney-based builder focused on Class 2 residential projects is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their expanding team at Sydney Olympic Park. The role involves ownership of the estimating process and handling a pipeline of boutique to medium-scale residential apartment developments valued between $20M and $100M.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive cost estimates and prepare tender submissions for Class 2 residential projects.
• Review construction plans, specifications, and associated documentation carefully.
• Perform quantity take-offs along with detailed cost breakdowns.
• Identify and secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Draft budgets and cost plans, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
• Evaluate project costs, variations, and commercial risks thoroughly.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Contract Administrators, and construction teams.
• Maintain professional relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Support procurement processes and value engineering initiatives as needed.
• Meet tender deadlines with precise and competitive estimates.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of five years’ estimating experience within the Australian construction sector.
• Extensive knowledge of Class 2 residential and apartment construction.
• Strong grasp of construction methods, materials, and subcontractor cost estimation.
• Capable of interpreting architectural, structural, and services drawings accurately.
• High attention to detail combined with commercial insight.
• Excellent negotiation and communication capabilities.
• Proven ability to manage several tenders and deadlines concurrently.
• Preferred tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related fields.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from $150,000 to $180,000 plus superannuation, based on experience.
