About the Role
This position involves managing engineering teams focused on trust platform capabilities within the Geo domain. Engineering Managers provide both technical leadership and people management to drive large-scale software projects that enhance platforms like Google Maps. You'll oversee a large international team and budget, shaping the roadmap and aligning priorities across multiple teams to develop scalable distributed systems that handle vast volumes of user-generated content.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and communicate team objectives aligned with broader organizational goals.
- Coordinate strategy, processes, and decision-making across multiple teams.
- Set performance expectations and collaborate with engineers on their growth through regular feedback and coaching.
- Develop mid-term technical roadmaps anticipating evolving infrastructure and platform needs.
- Design, review, and guide system architecture and code development to address complex challenges particularly related to user-generated content (UGC) capabilities across Geo and partner integrations.
- Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices in coding standards, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum eight years of software development experience.
- At least three years working with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- Three years in a technical leadership role.
- Two years of experience managing people or leading teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Three years working within complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience leading teams building scalable distributed infrastructure or middleware.
- Strong skills in stakeholder communication, strategic/product thinking, and influencing senior leadership.
