Engineering Manager, Trust Platform Capabilities, Geo

About the Role

This position involves managing engineering teams focused on trust platform capabilities within the Geo domain. Engineering Managers provide both technical leadership and people management to drive large-scale software projects that enhance platforms like Google Maps. You'll oversee a large international team and budget, shaping the roadmap and aligning priorities across multiple teams to develop scalable distributed systems that handle vast volumes of user-generated content.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and communicate team objectives aligned with broader organizational goals.
• Coordinate strategy, processes, and decision-making across multiple teams.
• Set performance expectations and collaborate with engineers on their growth through regular feedback and coaching.
• Develop mid-term technical roadmaps anticipating evolving infrastructure and platform needs.
• Design, review, and guide system architecture and code development to address complex challenges particularly related to user-generated content (UGC) capabilities across Geo and partner integrations.
• Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices in coding standards, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum eight years of software development experience.
• At least three years working with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• Three years in a technical leadership role.
• Two years of experience managing people or leading teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• Three years working within complex, matrixed organizations.
• Experience leading teams building scalable distributed infrastructure or middleware.
• Strong skills in stakeholder communication, strategic/product thinking, and influencing senior leadership.
