Role Overview

Reporting to the General Manager, the Electrical Estimator manages the entire estimating process—from initial lead qualification through project turnover to operations. The role extends beyond simple pricing to encompass understanding client needs through open communication, clarifying job scopes before initiation, spotting opportunities to add value, and safeguarding profit margins by minimizing operational risks. You will help shape the project pipeline, enhance relationships with clients and suppliers, and drive continuous improvements in estimating methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain customer relationships to develop precise scopes aligned with project goals
• Coordinate with vendors to secure necessary project materials
• Produce timely, accurate, and detailed cost estimates
• Analyze and interpret blueprints, specifications, and tender documents
• Detect risks, omissions, and scope discrepancies early in the process
• Assist operations with procurement and pricing of change orders
• Ensure seamless handover to operations teams
• Maintain up-to-date pipeline and tracking reports comparing estimates to actuals
• Provide weekly updates on estimating progress
• Deliver summaries analyzing deviations post-project completion
• Contribute to the ongoing refinement of estimating systems, procedures, and databases

Candidate Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in commercial electrical work
• At least 2 years of experience in estimating; experience with design-assist and tenant improvements is a plus
• Strong familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and relevant local regulations
• Proficiency using Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar estimating software
• Good understanding of labor productivity rates and installation methodologies
• Knowledge of construction contracts and site conditions
