About Scope
Scope is a prominent not-for-profit organization providing disability services, supporting over 5600 individuals with complex intellectual, physical, and multiple disabilities across more than 425 locations in Victoria and New South Wales. They focus on creating meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities to belong and flourish.
Role Overview
Scope operates seven Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes across the Hunter Region and is seeking permanent Support Workers for Bonnells Bay and casual Support Workers for Williamtown. These homes support individuals with complex mental health issues, psychosocial and intellectual disabilities, including those with histories involving the criminal justice system. The role requires trauma-informed, strength-based, and person-centered support to help clients maintain independence and achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote clients' autonomy and encourage participation in daily activities, routines, and personal interests.
- Adhere strictly to behavioural support plans, restrictive practices, and care directives from clinical and site management teams.
- Facilitate skill development such as hygiene, safe interpersonal relationships, domestic tasks, safe use of public transportation, and community access.
- Deliver person-centered active support focused on enhancing clients' independence.
- Assist clients with personal care and provide emotional support related to hygiene, ensuring dignity and respect.
- Maintain competency in computer and IT skills and produce detailed, high-quality reports.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a NSW P2 Driver's License or higher.
- Availability to work flexible shifts on a 24/7 rotating roster, including 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am shifts.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, emotional resilience, professional boundaries, and teamwork.
- Compliance with required background checks: NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and International Police Check if applicable.
