Overview

Help at Home is currently recruiting compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Oakland, MS. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living activities including cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, grooming, and transportation.
  • Encourage and support participation in community and social events such as shopping and gatherings.
  • Help individuals achieve their personal goals and celebrate their progress.
  • Promote independence, choice, and self-advocacy among clients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of care provided, activities engaged in, and progress made.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to deliver consistent and quality support.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass background checks and complete required training.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance (primary or secondary) required.
  • Ability to work safely and respectfully in clients’ homes and community environments.
  • Compassion, reliability, and a strong desire to positively impact others’ lives.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) or autism.
  • Familiarity with implementing Individual Activity Support Plans and Plans of Service and Supports.
  • Knowledge of foundational behavior-support techniques such as redirection, visual prompts, and environmental adaptations.
