Role Summary

As a Senior Solution Architect focused on Derivatives Clearing within ASX's Markets division, you will design and enhance the core systems that underpin trading, market operations, and compliance. This role centers on developing reliable, low-latency, high-performance platforms critical to Australia's financial market infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively as a member of the Enterprise Architecture and Business Architecture Community of Practice.
• Lead and oversee the creation and evolution of solution architectures across several major projects.
• Function as the advocate for solution architecture during governance and stakeholder meetings.
• Provide technical leadership for detailed design documentation, functional specifications, and related artifacts.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Business Analysis, Delivery, Infrastructure, IT Service Ownership, Quality Engineering, Solution Engineering, and Testing.
• Ensure solutions align with Enterprise IT Strategy and Architecture principles by integrating internal platforms and external vendor IT solutions.
• Work closely with Engineering teams to align implemented systems with technology architectural strategies, emphasizing software integrity and reusability.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Experience architecting mission-critical systems handling high transaction volumes.
• Background in financial services markets trading environments.
• Strong communication skills with an ability to translate technology concepts from a customer-centric perspective.
• Proven track record in stakeholder management and collaborative solution architecture definition.
• Expertise in hybrid architectures combining legacy infrastructure with cloud solutions (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
• Knowledge of full software development lifecycle methodologies, both traditional and agile.
• Capability to develop Non-Functional Requirements that support new implementations or enhancements.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Skills and Attributes

• Familiarity with networking infrastructure optimized for low latency, high throughput trading environments.
• Experience with strategy and architecture in legacy technology systems.
• Competence in cloud architecture and native cloud design.
• Strong analytical skills applied to complex, large-scale programs.
• Knowledge of fully integrated Exchange environments is a considerable advantage.
• Experience executing enterprise-wide strategic initiatives with substantial impact.
• Results-driven mindset with a clear understanding of influencing outcomes in a regulated, evolving setting.
• Inquisitive nature, regularly probing to deepen understanding.
• Confident decision-making abilities with sound judgment on when to escalate.
