Job description
Role Overview
The Data Steward position on the re:Cycle Reverse Logistics Operations team involves maintaining and enhancing the quality, consistency, and reliability of data within a global warehouse management system. This system supports millions of monthly transactions across multiple data tables and is crucial for enabling accurate operational insights across four facilities worldwide, with over 400 users.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the precision, uniformity, and completeness of data within and external to the warehouse management application.
- Establish and enforce global data standards, policies, and governance frameworks to uphold data integrity and compliance.
- Conduct ongoing data quality reviews, develop scorecards, and implement improvement plans to resolve data issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to understand data needs and offer support.
- Use SQL to query, extract, and analyze data supporting various business functions.
- Prepare and present data performance reports and visualizations to leadership, enabling data-driven decision making.
- Provide training to team members on data management best practices.
- Oversee ticket management for system enhancements and prioritize development activities strategically.
- Facilitate legacy data migration into new systems and ensure integrity throughout the process.
- Test new data implementations in development environments to verify successful deployment in production.

Team Mandate
The re:Cycle Reverse Logistics Operations team manages centralized processes to disassemble, inspect, repair, and dispose of server and networking equipment no longer in use. This team's system integration efforts ensure asset security, traceability, and comprehensive data sharing across the enterprise.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Background as a Data Engineer or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; alternatively, four or more years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Knowledge of query languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, HiveQL, SparkSQL, or Scala.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining data warehouse architectures, including data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and reporting/analytics tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms like Tableau or Quicksight.
- Strong analytical ability, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
- Experience defining KPIs and SLAs for high-revenue operations and reporting to senior management.
- Capacity to engage and manage third-party vendors effectively.
